Bala Cranberry Festival is celebrated every year on the weekend after Thanksgiving. It is a great opportunity to celebrate the cranberry harvest in this beautiful town called Bala. The festival also features games, a craft show, a farmer’s market, activities, food, entertainment, and free buses to visit the local cranberry farms. In 2024, the three-day Bala Cranberry Festival will begin on October 18 and end on October 20. Since 1984, a dedicated group of volunteers has ensured the Bala Cranberry Festival is an event that can’t be missed. . It is a fun filled weekend for everyone, with exceptional shopping, exciting entertainment and culinary delights, that all come together for one of the provinces most popular fall harvest festivals!
Discover handmade artists, epicurean delights, fresh cranberries dipped in candy, and long time merchants of the festival. Shop unique Canadian Handmade product, art, vintage and crafts at the Bala Arena, located on Maple Ave. A jury comprised of artists, shoppers and individuals interested in the arts, have selected and reviewed each submission to bring you quality and handmade products that meet the guidelines of the show.
The best way to experience the Bala & the festival is to start at one end of town and stroll your way to the other. Many local stores and restaurants will be open for you to shop and dine in either before or after your visit to the festival grounds. On festival grounds taking in all of the vendors, attractions, entertainment and food along your way. A visit to Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh and Muskoka Lakes Winery should be a part of your weekend experience, and will give you a true appreciation for our beloved cranberry! Please note that to visit the farm you will be required to pre-book your visit.
